Scott distilled that into a design that very much implies humans are in “lockstep” when it comes to their mission. “When they return to Pandora, they’re very well prepared—or they think they’re very well prepared. It’s much more militaristic. They’re clean. They’re pressed.”

That mindset is best personified by General Ardmore (Edie Falco), who is in charge of the RDA’s entire operation on Pandora, including the Recom Program, whose mission is to wipe out all native impediments from Pandora. “She’s a four-star general, so she’s the leader. Through her, you see a little bit more of the give-and-take between the so-called military and the corporate guys who are running the organization that supports the military. The industrial complex is very complicated, but you begin to see the hierarchy.”
